Discussion Group: Is Culture at Risk?

1. Internet could be a boom to Canadian artists and bring cost of distribution down while protecting intellectual property and we need federal framework legislation. That is: the Americans are vigilant on protecting American cultural property everywhere in the world.
    
2. We need to build alliances with Mexico and US on copyright.
    
3. There is a need for more training / mentoring of young artists.
    
4. We do the development work, i.e., supporting performers, (authors and musicians) and we need to do the rest of building supports.
    
5. We defined our culture as telling “stories/inclusiveness”, we did not define culture around National Identity.
