Discussion Group: Is Culture at Risk?
- Internet could be a boom to Canadian artists and bring cost of distribution down while protecting intellectual property and we need federal framework legislation. That is: the Americans are vigilant on protecting American cultural property everywhere in the world.
- We need to build alliances with Mexico and US on copyright.
- There is a need for more training / mentoring of young artists.
- We do the development work, i.e., supporting performers, (authors and musicians) and we need to do the rest of building supports.
- We defined our culture as telling stories/inclusiveness, we did not define culture around National Identity.
